A&O Hotels, one of Europe's largest hostel operators, has been expanding continuously into international cities for years. For new sites, the group relies on standardised, high-performance IT and WiFi infrastructure as an integral part of its operating concept. For a new building in Copenhagen, DaPhi provided support from the construction phase.

Implementation took place under challenging conditions:

  • Construction site environment with parallel trades and tight timelines
  • International coordination with local construction and technical partners
  • High requirements for comprehensive, stable WiFi coverage across several hundred rooms and public areas
  • Need for standardised infrastructure according to corporate specifications despite country-specific differences
  • Pandemic-related travel and access restrictions

Errors during construction would have resulted in costly retrofitting or delays later.

DaPhi accompanied the project from the start of the technical fit-out phase on-site in Copenhagen and managed the structured planning and implementation of network and WiFi infrastructure.

Key activities included:

  1. Technical construction coordination and infrastructure planning: DaPhi coordinated cable routes, technical rooms, and handover points with site management and electricians early on to ensure optimal cabling paths
  1. Server room setup and equipment: The team installed network cabinets, core switches, patch panels, and structured cabling according to A&O standards
  1. WiFi design and coverage planning: Based on floor plans and building conditions, DaPhi defined precise access point positioning to minimise dead zones and interference
  1. Managed WiFi configuration: Access points were centrally integrated, segmented (guest, back-office, administration), and configured with defined security and bandwidth policies
  1. Quality assurance before commissioning: Before opening, DaPhi conducted signal strength and network load measurements and optimised the configuration

Through the presence of DaPhi engineers on the construction site, planning deviations could be corrected immediately and technical standards consistently enforced.
